OFFGrid Knife Tracker XXL
A big fixed blade I carry for clearing brush on overgrown trail sections and handling any camp tasks that come up on longer trips.
Why It Makes The Cut
Where to Buy →The OFFGrid Knife Tracker XXL is a large fixed-blade knife that rides on my belt whenever I head into the backcountry. Central Texas trails — especially the less-maintained ones I prefer — have a tendency to get swallowed by mesquite and cedar regrowth between visits, and this knife gives me the reach and heft to clear a passable line through overgrown sections without exhausting myself the way a smaller blade would. The thick spine and full tang handle heavy chopping and batoning surprisingly well for a knife that is not technically a machete, and the blade profile transitions from a broad belly for slashing brush to a useful point for detail work around camp. I also use it for processing firewood, cutting cordage, and general camp tasks on longer trips. It is not a light carry — you feel it on your hip — but when I am miles from a maintained trailhead on an overgrown ranch road, it is the single most useful tool in my kit.
