Why It Makes The Cut

My small folder is a compact everyday-carry folding knife that lives clipped inside my pocket on every hike, serving as the quick-access complement to the larger fixed blade on my belt. I reach for it dozens of times per outing for tasks that do not warrant unsheathing the Tracker — cutting paracord, slicing open packaging, trimming moleskin for a hot spot, cleaning under my fingernails after digging through leaf litter for specimens, or preparing a trailside snack. I chose a simple, reliable folder with a blade around three inches and a one-handed opening mechanism because speed and convenience are the whole point — when I need a blade right now, I do not want to fumble with a belt sheath or a complicated lock. It is light enough to forget it is there until I need it, and sharp enough to handle any small cutting task the trail throws at me without hesitation.
