Palmetto State Park

Palmetto feels more like the Gulf Coast than the Hill Country: dwarf palmettos and swampy bottomland along the San Marcos River near Gonzales. The CCC-built refectory, the Ottine Swamp trail, and Oxbow Lake are the landmarks.

It's a small, shady park with paddling on the oxbow, fishing on the river, and campsites tucked into the trees.
